Probably the easiest pets I have ever owned where my beloved budgies, Pete and later his wife Repete. I read a lot about bird training when I got these guys, and I have to say, they are remarkable how fast they learn. They did tricks and were practically audio dictionaries. Pete was able to say far more than his wife, but they both could talk very well by the time they were two. They were super friendly, would go back to their cages on command, and they would fly around the farm with us, and them back to the house. They are easy to feed.
A few warnings. They copy anything they hear a lot, and don't know the difference between the cute things you want him to say, and swearing on TV.
Secondly, if you give a mated couple a nest, you will end up with babies.
Third, they will talk all night if you don't cover the cage.
Other than this, they are extremely easy pets. The only time they were remotely aggressive, Repete bit my mom during a cage cleaning when she was nesting. Other than that, super loving and they will even give kisses.
