Acquired: Pet store

For the first year of Buddy's life in my house, he was a pretty tough customer. He enjoyed time out of his cage, but he wasn't the most friendly bird in the world. I really did think that he was going to be like that for the rest of his life, and I was mostly okay with that.
Then, around a year and a half after I got him, he became a totally different bird. Not only was he VERY friendly with me, he also started to let strangers hold and feed him. This not only made our relationship better, it was also very obvious that he was a much happier budgie. From that point on, I couldn't have asked for a better bird.
I definitely don't recommend birds to everyone since they take a whole different type of training and care, but I know that just about anyone would be happy (and lucky) to have a budgie like Buddy. He was a fantastic pet.
