Many birds are a nightmare to keep. They're excessively loud and obnoxious, or they're constantly making a mess. However, Budgies are not your average bird.

We got Sarah from our local pet store. They had a cage with about ten Budgies to pick from. Sarah looked pretty much the same as the rest did, but her yellows seemed to be brighter and cleaner. We socialized her with the whole family and many pets.

She was so much fun! She would come and land on your shoulder if you said her name. She would pick up cat toys and flutter up and drop it to play with the cats.

Her cage was a breeze to clean and somehow my father trained her to go to her cage when she needed to go. She only made a mess around the house once or twice a month. For a bird, I think that's astonishing.

Sarah learned a couple of words, but she was a master of animal sounds. We had lots of animals around so she had plenty of inspiration. She also learned how to whistle for the dogs when I would pick up their dinner to take it outside.

If you have the place in your heart for a feathered friend, I'd highly recommend a Budgie. You won't regret it.
