Our budgie parakeets were always nice to have around. They looked great with different exciting colors and kept us company. There was always some life in the room with them around. The sound of them flying around in the cage and chirping happily. They were especially simple pets to have and required no maintenance. They were easy to feed as they only required their water and their seeds.
But they were also pets we didn't get very attached to. It was fun to let them out of the cage and let them fly around in the room but they gave little impression of realizing we were there other than a natural curiosity.
But we did enjoy their company. The cats found them especially interesting. So we had to keep an eye out to make sure the cats stayed away but usually they only stared at each other.
I recommend this type of pet when you want a pet with little hassle. They do spread around a few feathers and can make a bit of a mess around their cage but otherwise they are very simple pets to have.
