My previous experience had always been as a dog owner and I was disappointed with the experience of owning a bird. My bird was friendly enough, but the lack of the ability to do much interaction besides take him out of the cage and stroke him was disappointing. He was very beautiful, however, and a very happy bird-he sang all the time and at night we had to put a light sheet over the cage so that he would go to sleep. In the future, I might consider a parrot or other bird with some ability to learn speech, as I would have preferred a pet with whom I could do more interaction.
