I bought a budgie as a young adult. We thought he was a male and named him Beau Jai. After awhile, we thought he would be happier with a friend, so we bought what we thought was a female and named her Angel. They bonded right away.

They were both happy and active birds. We would let them fly around the house at least once a day. They liked to sit on the highest point in any room which was usually on top of the curtains. They were never eager to go back in their cages, so we just waited until they went back on their own. They also liked to sit behind us on the sofa and groom our hair one strand at a time. They also liked to sit on our fingers and shoulders.

They never did talk, but we didn't work with them much on this. They were chatty sometimes, but not to the point of being annoying.

They were also easy to take care of. The one thing that did surprise me was how much food and poop managed to get outside of their cages.

One of the great things about these birds is the different colors they come in. Both Beau Jai and Angel were a beautiful blue.
