During mid to late childhood I became very fascinated with birds. I was lucky enough to receive a very beautiful green Parakeet from my previous preschool teacher in my home town. This bird ended up spending close to two years with my family. What was particularly interesting was my bird's penchant to groom other people including their beards! I added another bird (parakeet as well) to the mix but things became strained between them. Apparently they both were males although originally I thought my parakeet was a female (they told us you could know by the cere). Due to them both being males, they fought and one bird (I believe it was my bird, Budgie) bit the other bird's leg off. I ended up giving my two birds to another family and they led happy long lives. Due to the length of time that has passed, I don't have a picture of Budgie (green parakeet) or the other male parakeet (blue). They were both beautiful and I think that Parakeets are awesome as long as you know the gender beforehand if you are adding a companion.
