Zazu the Budgerigar

My first bird was Zazu, the beautiful blue Budgerigar Parakeet. He was a very friendly bird and would step up onto my finger, sit on my shoulder as I walked about the house, and stay with me while I sat watching TV. It took little training to teach him to step up, and he did so easily. He loved to sing all day and it was beautiful to listen to. Zazu, like most birds, was definitely messy; however, he would have been much easier to clean up after if I had done a little tweaking to his cage set-up (such as newspapers to easily peel away, instead of shavings). Budgerigars have the ability to talk, but unfortunately I did not have Zazu long enough to train him to do so. My cat at the time, who loved to stalk "prey," tried to attack him a few too many times, so I decided to re-home him.
