Acquired: Pet store

I had Bobby when I was a young girl. Looking back, I think it was great to learn how to care for, clean, feed, and generally be responsible for a pet. Parakeets are not too difficult to take care of: daily cleaning of water and food dishes, wash down furnishings weekly, cage liner every day or at least other day. Birds poop! No way to avoid that. This parakeet also got some of his birdseed and feathers outside of the cage constantly. So there is some cleaning and planning regarding housing.
He was very friendly. Great for kids. I feel like my parents should have bought 2 instead of 1 so he would have a friend when we are gone or at work. My parakeet experience is that they are active, friendly. like to lay with mirrors and bells, like to free fly, and sing.
He lived 5 years and I am not exactly sure of his age when we got him, so I assumed 2 yrs. He was yellow and greenish. Very beautiful. I think all around a great pet!
