Acquired: Pet store

When I was still young, I had four budgies. Not all at the same time, but more in a row, always two at once. That was because the pet shop employee told me and my mum that they feel better in pairs. I will be honest, a budgie was not the right pet for me. I wanted a companion to cuddle with and that was not my experience with birds. Maybe young girls should rather have a rabbit or a guinea-pig. I know it would at least have been a better choice for me.
I didn't grow much of a bond with my budgies. The closest I got them to interact with me was one of them sitting on my hand and gnawing on my finger. I know that my juvenile lack of patience probably prohibited me from an awesome bird experience.
So the main thing I learned from my time having these pets is that they are not the type of pet to cuddle with. Adding to that, to really meet their needs, you need to have a spacious area for them to fly around in, everything else would be cruel. Of course you can use your own room for that but be aware that their excrement is gonna be everywhere. They need someone fit to their needs same as every animal and I wasn't the one to fit. Overall I felt like it was okay to have them, but I'd recommend a different type of pet if you're not incredibly patient and looking for a cute, furry friend.
