Budging on Budgies

I wasn't overly impressed with owning budgies. They are usually up before I want to be, their chirping is loud and not really conducive to a nice ambient setting. They are demanding and make quite a mess with their seeds. You can only buy them certain seeds and they crack the shells so you have to make sure the shells don't cover the unshelled seeds or else they won't pick through and find them.
Clipping their wings so they don't fly off into the sunset is also a pain and they can bite if upset.

They are beautiful but overall personally, not the ideal pet for me. I think they need to be in pairs and it was really depressing when one died. They are probably great pets for older folks who have more time to dedicate to a bird and who don't mind being woken up very early.
