Having a budgie as a pet is rarely a bad idea. They make a fine little companion that variously accentuate the ambiance of your home throughout the day with chirping, singing and more. Further, they are easy to keep, care for and keep safe. Should be said too, for those that are keen, training is very much an option too. Alongside the possibility of having a budgie that is hand tamed - and thus comfortable with sitting in your hand - you can also teach them to wave, flap their wings and an assortment of other tricks. Alongside being good fun to show to friends, they are a fine way to speed up a slow weekend when at home and waiting for the Sunday roast to finish.

Were there one drawback of having a budgie, it is perhaps for those that may only wish for one pet - and be most keen on a pet they can interact with a bit more; like throwing a frisbee with a dog or throwing a ball of string to a cat. Save for this though - and there is nothing to say you cannot have more than one pet:) - a budgie is a fine idea to add some rich and warm sounds to your household.
