Petey my Parakeet

Petey was your typical, pet store Parakeet. I loved him, but I do not believe this was the bird for me, or the circumstance in which we got him was not ideal for me. He was given to my family by a friend, and then he was my Christmas gift. I wanted to just hold him all the time, but he was rarely very agreeable. I do not know if this was just his temperament, or if he was not socialized young enough to be tolerate. The bedding we used at first, pellets, was not a good idea either because he would get down and kick them out of the cage. He was low maintenance and easy to care for. You can find their food anywhere and it is inexpensive. If you're buying for a child I would suggest researching one that will not bite as much, whether the type or age makes a difference...

The last thing about Petey was that my grandparents watched him while we went on vacation for a week. When we got back, Petey had taken to my grandfather and would not have anything to do with me. He would even try to bite me to keep me away from my grand dad. He never came home because all he did was bite me from then on. I couldn't believe he fired me as his owner!!
