My gradmother use to breed Budgies  in her small trailer . I loved going to my grandmas to watch the birds . She had all kinds of toys , and they lived out side the cage till evening . They would sit on her shoulders at the breakfast table and eat toast and drink coffee in the mornings . Years later I had several of my own . My kids had a male for more than 10 years . They are very sweet little birds . Best to have several in a cage if you are not handling them a lot . They can be trained fairly easily with a little time and patience . Ours never talked but sure did make a lot of noise . Give them a good size cage , fresh food , fresh water , a cuttle bone , keep out of drafts ,lots of toys  and they will be very entertaining .
