Great Pet for Kids

Budgies are great pets however; are extremely messy eaters. Throughout my childhood in Australia we had a pet Budgie who lived in a indoor cage. On weekends in the Summer we would take his cage outside and let him enjoy the fresh air and interact with other birds. A word of caution with this though - watch out for predators that may try and prey on your bird. Our second Budgie was terrorized by rather aggressive birds from time to time!
As I mentioned before Budgies have a tendency to scatter food everywhere. Sweeping daily around the cage became routine for us. They are easy to feed though and great eaters. Ours loved to eat lettuce, cuttlefish and apple as treats.
Our Budgies loved their little bird bath in Summer. We would fill it up with water watch them splash around in the sun! We would make sure there were accessories in the cage like mirrors and balls for him to play with as they are quite active birds.
Whilst our Budgie never learned any words he would chirp and dance along on his perch when there was music on in the house which was highly entertaining. Both Budgies we owned were quite active and talkative. They were definitely not shy birds. Looking back a Budgie was the perfect addition to our childhood home.
