Parakeet Pets

Honestly, this is one pet I would not own again. Parakeets are noisy, dirty, and maybe it was just mine, but every time I had to clean her cage she bit me. It was not an enjoyable experience. I think what bothered me the most was the noise, she cawed all the time, and it was not one of those lovely bird calls either. It was like having a very crotchety baby in the house all the time. If I had to do it over again, I might have picked a bird that could either learn to replicate my vocal sounds, like a parrot, or something that had a lovely call. Would not recommend, especially if you have younger children in the house.
