Budgie was a blue parakeet that I adopted from the local pet store. He was beautiful to watch in his cage, but was too frightened for interaction from me. I tried many times to train Budgie to perch on my finger, but Budgie resisted and wouldn't even let me touch him. Budgie loved his mirror toy and spent most of his hours staring in the mirror and pecking at his own reflection. He also played with his wooden blocks on a string. Sometimes, he could be heard tweeting.

The cage was rather easy to clean since it just required new newspapers to line the bottom tray. Food and water were given daily. I didn't think the cage smelled at all if the papers were changed consistently, but Budgie did lose some feathers which would fall to the floor every day.

I only owned Budgie about six months before I returned him to the pet store. He simply didn't care for my type of interaction and I was too young to have the patience to train him.
