Parakeet Disaster

I purchased two little blue and white parakeets at the height of my bird phase. I'd always wanted birds. I thought they were beautiful and I loved their songs. I acquired them around the same time I moved to the countryside and purchased my lovebirds. Like my lovebirds they were in a petshop in horrible conditions, and they were not tame at all. These experiences seriously deterred me from ever owning birds again.
I had plenty of time to spend with them ( I knew birds required a lot of attention in order to make them tame). These birds wanted nothing to do with me, aside from taking the treats I gave them and eating the food I offered them. Even when I dedicated several hours a day to them, the most they would do was take food from my hand. They would bite me if I offered them my hand to walk on.
Unfortunately, despite keeping them well fed, hydrated and providing them with a clean environment, my birds got sick and died.

Pros: relatively affordable, not as messy as other birds, beautiful birds, nice song, energetic, social with each other,

Cons: still a little messy, they can be very loud when they start squawking, mine were not friendly, susceptible to illness
