As a bird keeper of six birds of the Budgerigar breed, I can say they are beautiful little creatures. However, getting practical I would not take on this breed again. I kept the six in a large cage which gave them enough room to play around, feed and fly. The birds are extremely noisy and make a huge mess by the hour. They are somewhat friendly but to each other-- not so much. One of the birds was the alpha male and would often hurt the others. I kept him in a separate cage for some time but he just got louder all the time, even when the others were sleeping. They scratch so be careful and please do not ever feed them anything other than bird food. They will get sick and die! If you are a busy person, I will advise not to adopt this breed as they are difficult to take care of or even train for that matter.
