Orbit Loved to Bark

When I was pregnant with my son I got a little blue bird from a trade show in Houston. He came in a nice big circle cage. He was very outgoing and interested in people from the very beginning.

I put Orbit in the front living room close to a huge double window looking into a front yard full of trees. Here he had the chance to see other birds up close and talk to them all day.

One of his favorite things to do was to bark back at the dogs. I had several in the yard and my neighbors did too. All of us in the house never really noticed that Orbit was barking until one day my brother sat down next to him and he laughed. Right away Orbit let out this huge laugh that was EXACTLY like my brother
s laugh. From that moment on I realized Orbit was a natural talker.

Orbit was a pretty neat bird with the exception of a bad habit of knocking his seed shells all the way out of the cage. There were so many I'm pretty sure he did it for a reason.

He was a very healthy bird and I did give him away to a neighbor who got him a little blue and green wife and they did have babies. The family that I gave them to had a father who sat on the front porch with Orbit all day long and they talked back and forth. I think Orbit lived to be about 11 years old.

I know that these birds can live a long life as I know someone who has a bit bigger parakeet who is now 18 years old.
