For bird-loving people with a lot of free time , budgerigars might be an option - but I personally felt like they were more work than fun . The cage has to be cleaned very often and budgerigars can be incredibly loud and annoying - especially when you are trying to sleep . If they are friendly , you can pet them or let them sit on your finger but they are in no way cuddly . I also did not feel a loving pet-owner-relationship grow . I would only recommend them for people who have the nerves and time to care for them - not a pet for lazy people and especially not for children .
