Our little blue budgie, Ben, was a delightful pet. He could be quite shy, but with the family he was vocal and willing to be handled. He learned a few tricks, and while we mostly kept his wings clipped, he was safe to be out in the house. We had a cat at the time, but they kept their distance from each other. Overall he was a very good pet, but he could be quite loud at times, and we would always have to move him from the room if we wanted to watch a movie.
Budgies are easy to care for, so long as one keeps their environments clean and interacts with them. Ben was happiest in a high-traffic area, where we could pass by and talk to him regularly. Other than that, just keeping food, water, grit, and toys in the cage was enough to keep him content and chirping. This is an excellent entry-level pet to have.
