I think female parakeets are a little more aggressive than the males. Lola loves to chew everything and Louie just likes to make a lot of noise when he's in the mood. They both are very sweet but it took a while to gain their trust and sometimes they still won't let me pet them. Especially during breeding season, they are on high alert and it's best to just leave them alone, just talk to them but don't bother them too much. The good thing about parakeets is their curiousity. They just love to get into things so when you let them out of their cages, watch them carefully. There's other good things, they are friendly and can get to be pretty outgoing once you have gained their trust. At first they just flew around the cage like mad everytime I walked by. but thanks to patience, spinach leaves and millet spray they are my friends now. They just had an egg hatch so I'm leaving them alone until their baby gets a little older. It's only been three days. But they do need lots of privacy right now and I will hold off on training for a while.
