I've had four budgies over the course of my life, but my first was Chiku. He was well-behaved bird and extremely easy to train, but over the course of a year, he became slightly aggressive for whatever reason. His cage was always clean and we often played little games with him, but his flying was sometimes erratic, as if he had an irrevocable urge to fly freely. My mother, one time, had carried him out on our balcony while he was on her shoulder. She didn't really notice he was there - he flew away, around the building, not to be seen again. Anyway, while we did have him, he was a pleasant enough bird who liked to be on people's shoulders. He didn't make very nice sounds, sometimes - he had a strong voice, but the squawking got very annoying! If you can't handle noisiness, then budgies may not be a very good choice. I didn't mind having Chiku (especially since my next three budgies, who lived together, were always at odds), but I don't think I'd own a budgie again.
