I've had four budgies in my lifetime. The one I had longest was Mickey, a blue and white male who I picked out from the Walmart pet department when I was about eleven years old. I had him until he passed away when I was about eighteen or nineteen, and in that time I enjoyed him very much. Although he was a solitary bird, I could never teach him to say more than "Pretty bird" followed by a wolf whistle, but then again I was a kid with a short attention span, and so I probably didn't put in as much time as it takes to help him develop a large vocabulary. But Mickey loved to sing, and when I turned on my radio he would dance and sing with the music. He was a sweet bird at times, but he could also be temperamental and prone to biting. All in all, Mickey was a great pet, and he brought me a lot of joy. If I ever get another pet bird, it will most likely be another budgie.
