We got our budgie when she was about 3 months old, so she was tiny - hence the name Titch. As far as birds go, budgies are very easy to look after; they don't need a lot of space, their food is easy to come by (don't need anything too specialist), they're entertained by fairly simple environmental enrichment and you just need to let them out for a bit of exercise regularly - that's it really. Titch was quite sweet, but NEVER shut up. The endless chatter, that seemed endearing to begin with, just got irritating after a while. Budgie's talk endlessly, and poop a lot too - if you keep them indoors, you need to clean them every day as the smell gets bad pretty quickly. They can learn little tricks, which is also pretty cute; unfortunately, Titch was born with a respiratory problem which meant she only lived for about 8 months, so we didn't get to teach her anything. It would have been nice to teach her to pipe down!
