I owned kiwi for several years when I was younger.

He was one of my first pets, and I learned a great deal about pet care from him.

His wings had been clipped when I got him so he didn't fly very long distances, but he'd often perch up on a bookcase or shelf and then fly down and land on my shoulder.

He wasn't all that sociable with other people, but he wasn't openly hostile towards them either.

A recommendation for any budgerigar owner is to buy several toys for the cage and keep a couple of them in it all the time and then rotate a few others in and out just to keep things interesting.
