My budgie was my buddy!

My budgie was pretty young (1 month old) when I first got him. He was a green/yellow/white bird very gorgeous looking. It took him about a week to get used to his surroundings I remember I was so worried the first day because he refused to eat or drink but then gradually he got used to his cage and everyone around him.

He was very active in and outside of his cage he loved playing with his cage toys i.e. mirror and bells. In the beginning he didn't know how to ring the bell. I had to teach him by ringing the bell and giving it to him so he could try it. I kept on repeating it until he rang it himself. He was a very fast learner. I would also let him outside the cage from time to time and he would fly around the house. I enjoyed teaching him new tricks I taught him to fly over and land on my hand every time I called out his name. He would chirp and fly towards me. I also trained him to step up onto my finger which took a little longer to learn. I watched some videos of step up training. The trick was to offer him a strong and firm perch to step up onto.

My budgie was like my buddy and I enjoyed teaching him and learning new things about him everyday. This type of bird is super cute and friendly and I strongly recommend them as a pet especially if you are looking for a real joy and great friendship in your life.
