Rocky was a birthday present a few years ago, and a beautiful one at that. I was astounded at the sight of his beautiful blue and green feathers and often found myself just staring at him for that reason. His beautiful colours and cheery voice brought a sense of the tropics into my home, and it was exactly what I needed the winter I got him.

Not long after receiving Rocky, in a matter of about 2 weeks, I noticed he seemed a little out of sorts. After analyzing the situation, I realized that the quiet house during most of the day while I was at school and work was not the kind of atmosphere Rocky was conditioned to by the pet store. So, I went back to the store and picked up another beautiful budgie to befriend Rocky and keep him company when I wasn’t home.

A piece of information that was helpful to me when deciding to buy another budgie was that 2 males typically get along quite nicely, while 2 females may fight for dominance. Therefore, I opted for another male and I’m glad I did.

The birds often harmonized and played together and they were a great addition to my home. Cleaning their cage was easy and food was inexpensive as well. Overall a great pet choice.
