Budgies are adorable, affectionate little birds that can become very attached to their humans. They are very social and require a great deal of interaction with humans or other birds. They love to chew, so toys, particularly wooden ones, are a must. While both the males and females can learn to speak, if your goal is a well developed vocabulary, the males are the better choice. They can be easily distinguished from the females by the blue cere - or banding - above the beak.
