My first pets ever were two Budgies. They were cute and I loved to hear their cheerful chirps. After the initial expense of purchasing the cage, taking care of them was easy, however it took years to get rid of the fly away feathers. All birds are messy! I have owned two myself and have known almost a dozen over the years - not a single one was hand trained. They are very nervous birds who love to sing. They are very easy to care for but don't expect to be able to touch them.
