I had a large number of these lovely birds. I was in the midst of an experiment when I realized how much I enjoyed the birds on their own merits. My birds were friendly, ate from my hand, and loved to do free flight in our screened in porch. They were all colors, so it was quite a sight to see 20 + birds flying in the porch. Due to the numbers I had, they never learned human words, but they chattered with each other a good bit. They were excellent at school education programs and easy for children of all ages to handle. They seldom bite, although they can. I recommend these birds for all ages. They are easy to care for, as long as they get some millet seed, bird food, fresh water and a clean cage, they are content.
