Having a bird is an easy pet all you have to do is keep it in a cage feed it and change the water daily. However you can try to let it out and let it fly around, which for me wasn't a good idea. Apparently my bird didn't want to go back in its cage after being let out and would actually attack anyone who went near it. Not so fun for kids - or adults for that matter.
My Aunt had a budgie as well and it was a perfect bird would come and sit on your finger when you called it and just hang out if it was out of the cage so I thought mine could do the same - BAD idea.
I have to say I honestly am scared to death of birds after being attacked by my budgie. I still believe that if you get the right bird it is the perfect family pet but not my bird. They are simple and easy to take care of but be prepared for crazyness if you let it out don't just think it will be easy is my advice!
