Peat and Repeat The Budgies

I have 2 parakeets or "budgies" and I would give them away if my children would let me. They are beautiful birds, but hard to understand if they try saying words. They speak fast, and in my opinion require a lot of work to train. When they bite, it seems like they go for the corners of your nail and skin. IT HURTS! Call me crazy but I'd prefer my macaw biting me over one of the keets. Peat and Repeat are my childrens' first set of birds. My children love them but don't like holding them. In their cage they are fun and beautiful birds to watch. But if they get loose it takes forever to get them. They are cheap to own and purchase. $20 a piece for purchase at a petstore and maybe $50 on cage and everything they will need. Perfect "starter" bird for kids, if they don't intend on handling them. Again, just my experience. I've known of someone who put their time into training one, and it will let them hold them.
