Cool, but not exciting

First, I have no idea what type of parakeet he was. I was young.

He was very pretty and not terribly loud. I liked watching him.

I can remember talking to him and spending time with him, but he really wasn't what you would call friendly. It seemed like every time I would take him out of his cage, he would bite me. Not hard but as if to say, "Not cool! Leave me alone."

There really weren't any downsides to having a parakeet.

Maybe the noise. Once in a while, he would decide it was time to call all of his friends. Usually it was around 4 am.

Clean up was easy and he was cheap to feed so no problem there.

I guess the only thing for me is if you're going to have a bird for a pet, you probably want one that has a bit more spirit and personality. My parakeet had the personality of very cranky old man.
