A Parakeet Love Story

Parakeets are beautiful animals. When I was younger I asked my dad for a bird. He finally agreed as long as I would take care of it and we went to the pet store and I picked out the most beautiful blue parakeet from the bunch. I brought her home and put her in a pretty cage. She was very cheerful and sung a lot but she was even more happy when we got the second bird.

These birds are pretty social animals so we decided to get her a companion, a pretty green male parakeet. The two became great friends and were always next to each other. They were always cheerful and always "talking". The only thing is that we did not handle them as much because we did not train them. If you want to be able to handle birds you really need to slowly start right away. It didn't matter though. The birds were happy in their huge cage with each other. I took care of them. I talked to them, made sure they always had fresh food and water and cleaned their cage a lot.

Sadly, the time came when the girl bird passed away. Her companion was very sad and shortly after the first bird died, the second one died as well. They were always together and I often wonder if the second bird died of a broken heart.
