Blue Headed Pionus are arguably the most attractive member of the Pionus family with their rich blue head plumage and large, dark eyes. They are often recommended for apartment or duplex dwellers because although their sounds are not exactly pleasant, they vocalize far more infrequently than most other medium and large parrot species. Relatively secure and independent and less bossy than some other Pionus species, Blue Headed Pionus enjoy participating in everything you're doing (especially meals!) but are not terribly cuddly birds - head scratches are acceptable, however. Blue Headed Pionus are also not likely to become prolific talkers.
