Sam was my grandmother's bird. For seven years you could not walk into the kitchen without running right into this bird's cage. He was very vocal, and loved treats and human interaction. In fact, the only time to get Sam to not be vocal, was to put a blanket over his cage, so he would calm down and sleep.

Sam could not keep a secret. Anything you said in the kitchen had a way of being repeated randomly at a later date. Sam's favorite phrase was "Damn Bird!" (Blame NaNa for that one.)

Although he liked to argue, Sam was a good bird.

If you have small children, however, warn them to keep their fingers out of the cage, Sam and birds like him will bite tiny fingers if they get a chance.

Although easy to raise, and very entertaining, the bird does molt (shed) twice a year. This time is not a pleasant time for your bird, and can cause him to become grumpy.
