After dining out with family, I jumped into my car and proceeded to exit the parking lot, when I notice something moving on my windshield wiper. I stopped and exited my car to take a closer look and saw a small frightened bird sitting there looking at me. To my surprise, it hopped onto my finger, and that was all it took; I was in love with this small feathered baby.
Research and a trip to a vet revealed that my little prize was indeed a Blue-crowned Conure and she was in perfect health. With advise from friends and a lot of research, I was ready to start training. Precious took to it quickly. She is very intelligent and will show off her skills to anyone paying attention. She is somewhat a one person bird, but will warm up to most anyone who will give her a piece of fruit.
Conures love to eat most anything you give them, but some favorites are peaches, cantalope and sunflower seeds. However it is advisable to feed them a good mix from the pet store.
Precious has a huge cage, although she is not in it much as she loves to sit on my shoulder and goes almost everywhere with me.
Did I mention they Conures will live up to 30 year?
