I adopted a B&G from a couple of college kids that loved her but because of their study path could no longer keep her. They had originally rescued her from deplorable conditions.
Lola was a great bird. She was a total personality. She knew if I had peanuts in the desk drawer and would give me a 'pinch' to have me give her one. She loved for me to sing Copacabanna to her 'her name is Lola...she is a showgirl..with yellow feathers in her hair...' and she would bob her head and dance. That was a daily ritual. Eventually I would hear her singing it to herself. Not totally articulating every word but I knew what she was singing.
She loved to sit on the back of my chair when I was on my PC. Just hang out. She knew how to 'give kisses'. And she had a good vocabulary. She would surprise me with things she had picked up. The most endearing was 'I love Lola' which is what I would always say to her.
Lola passed on suddenly and recently. I miss her terribly. I want another B&G but I need to wait for the right one to come along.
These birds are not for everyone, but the right bird and the right person can bring a beautiful friendship together.
