I own a female blue and gold Macaw. With my experience with her I have gained a lot of knowledge about birds. The Macaw has a very high set personality and is normally active and loves interaction with people. Although these birds can be difficult to train at times, they are very smart and good listeners. My Macaw will pick up on several noises and mimic these along with words she hears on a regular bases such as, names, television commercials, and phrases. I recommend the Macaw breed to someone who has a lot of spare time to dedicate to them, not because they are high maintenance, but because they tend to do best with more interaction with humans or birds they get along with. My Macaw has allergy issues in which I have to accommodate for but this will not come with every bird. Every species and individual will be different. My Macaw is by far one of the most fun, loving, and outgoing pets I have ever owned.
