Boomer, a one-man bird...

I was a teenager when we got Boomer, a blue and gold macaw from a breeder. He was about 2 years old and already stubborn, but in a fun way. He instantly bonded with my father and showed him undying loyalty. He was super easy to care for and teach words and phrases to, but when it came to handling, only my dad could do that. That was a bit of a drawback to his loyalty. Boomer knew what he wanted when he wanted it and he was smart, too! As soon as my mom or dad would turn on the stove to make dinner, he would unlock and open his cage, climb down and walk into the kitchen saying, "mmm!" the whole way. He was a great bird, I just wish he had been a little friendlier to the entire family. I plan on getting one for myself and my family to enjoy in the near future. All in all, he was a great bird and wonderful pet. He got along with our other parrots nicely, but knew he was the king of the roost when it came to my parents' attention.
