The blue and gold which i worked with had anger issues, but that was due to its previous owner. I found that with alot of trust building and attention and love he was an amazing bird.
These birds require an owner who is willing to give it the time that they would a child. They have the mind of a 5 year, and so need mental stimulation.
They can be trained to do i number tricks and can also speak well.
A parrot of any species needs a very large enclosure, or none at all and the Macaw is no exception. When i first saw 'Jesus' i was enoyed at my boss, the poor bird was at waist level and stuck in a filthy cage that he could barely move in. Nobody touched him or took him out because he wasn't friendly, but as soon as he was put in a suitable enclosure he was a different bird altogether.
They make ideal companions, and are beautiful birds.
