Black Headed Caiques are Lovable Troublemakers!

Black Headed Caiques are undeniably attractive; the stark contrast in their plumage as well as their ruby-red eye rings are very alluring. They love rough and tumble play and are not generally considered to be good "independent" players; they are highly unlikely to stay put on a playstand and can find trouble wherever they go. For fun, turn on some music with a good bass beat and watch them dance and hop around! For Black Headed Caiques, excitement can quickly turn to aggression; what is friendly play can quickly become aggression and result in a nasty bite - and speaking of biting, it's important to know that Caiques are perfectly willing to hold a grudge and will go out of their way to attack someone that they dislike (sometimes without any discernible reason). Black Headed Caiques are also bird aggressive and do not generally do well in multiple bird households unless the other birds are also Caiques because of their unique social structure and play habits.
