My friends and I divided up a group of these that were found in an abandoned home we were cleaning out. They were in pretty rough shape so we took them home so they would at least have a little decency before they died. I did some minor homework after talking to a vet and did what I could.

For the condition mine was in when I got her, these seem a fairly strong and resilient breed of bird. Once she got used to her new home, she would sing on a regular basis. I found her a nice spot that had sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. She seemed to love to bathe herself. I would just put a little dish of water in and she would go to town. She always perked up afterwards. I do miss her sometimes and will be considering another American if I decide to get another one.
