Parrot with a Personality

Bubby was just a baby parrot when it was gifted to me. But now, this lovable Alexandrine parakeet is fully grown with beautiful green feathers with red patches on either side. Since Bubby was raised all by myself, he responds more towards me than the others at home. This adorable parrot is quick at catching words that sound fun and amusing. At present, he has a fairly good vocabulary with words and phrases such as ‘hello’, ‘how are you’, ‘what are you doing’, ‘come here’, ‘give’, ‘hey boy’ etc. Mimicking sounds of cats and hens to unsuspecting visitors shows the cheeky side of him.

He is a bird with full of energy and loves attention. Oh, and nothing interests him like nibbling at pens or the corners of my books!
If you are looking to rear an Alexandrine parakeet, you have to be prepared to deal with some attitude as well. Sometimes we have had days where Bubby would go on a screeching rampage for quite some time. No amount of consolation would stop him until he makes up his mind. Although he eats anything from fruits to nuts, he does enjoy an occasional treat of cheese and bits of cake. Since these birds are quite messy eaters, their cages must be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid foul odor.

Alexandrine parakeets have different personalities. For instance, Bubby has a knack for music and loves rocking back and forth or humming. But nothing satisfies him more than a good rub on his head and neck. For a family with kids that is on the lookout for a fun companion, Alexandrine parakeets will be a great choice.
