Extremely cute animals, very sociable and friendly. Being the owner of such an amazing animal is unique. The parrot is quite easy to train, likes to have people around him but can become aggressive if he feels in danger. In general the Alexandrine Parakeet loves to bath, contrary to many other feathered friends. This parrot eats almost anything you give him but it should be fed with grain products and fruits mainly. Crackers, apples, appricots, small cheese, even meat! The bird is not too noisy and is very smart - it can learn sounds and mimic them. The Alexandrine Parakeet could become quite big and active so releasing him atleast once a day is a must. As mentioned the bird is playful so having a few bird toys around would also keep it happy. The parrot is genuinely healthy, but is prone to some illnesses which could be deadly. Avoid leaving it alone for too long, as it feels your absence and could become depressed. A bigger cage would be the better, buy him a traveling cage if possible as well. In general the Alexandrine Parakeet is a long-living bird and is perfect for people who had not possessed a bird before. Outgoing and sociable, this bird is the perfect choice for a first pet.
