The Alexandrine has been my long time favorite for many reasons. His unique talking abilities, his big orangey-red beak, his adorable pinning eyes, and the absolutely fascinated approach these guys take to everything. Their voice has a very sweet chime to it. For bird enthusiasts who are more into the larger birds but aren’t willing to deal with the extremity of a macaw I strongly recommend the Alexandrine. At a medium size he offers almost everything that the smaller AND larger birds do. And ideally, he just has the most stunning colors! I’ve come across different types of Alexandrines, some more loud than others, some shyer than others. They are very intelligent birds so I recommend everyone to utilize that in behavior training. They are very playful and need plenty of exercise plus mental stimulation. Many of the Alexandrine’s I’ve fostered were just a pleasure. I don’t find the behavior issues for rescued Alexandrine’s to be as intense as with other species.
