Rawhide dog chews are made from the inner layer of cow or horse hides. The hides are made into dog chews after processing with hydrogen peroxide, bleach and preservatives like sodium benzoate. Rawhide chews are also sometimes colored with artificial colors.
Rawhide dog chews are available in a variety of sizes, shapes, and flavors. Popular shapes include bones, sticks, chips and rolls.
Depending on the size of the dog, its chewing style etc., rawhide bones and other edible chews can pose choking and intestinal blockage risks.
