If you're looking for a truly breathtaking "show fish" to display in your aquarium, consider the elegant marbled lace angelfish. It is sure to wow even an expert fish enthusiast. Not only is it beautiful to look at, this angelfish has a grace and presence many other fish do not. Ok, so maybe that sounds like a silly way to describe a fish, but I'm sure any marbled lace angelfish lover would agree with me wholeheartedly.
Its disposition is indeed quite particular. In fact, it has its own little attitude and often swims around the tank pecking at other fish to stay in line, like a "guard dog" of sorts. It is this specific personality trait that garners it a reputation of being somewhat aggressive. Sadly, my husband and I had to find this out the hard way since we were amateurs and somehow ended up with a rather uninformed (or uncaring) fish store guy. Regardless, once we were at home with our new fish did we witness its somewhat hostile attitude towards certain fish in the tank.
As well, we also experienced problems when adding new, younger fish of this species with an older/more mature one. That was yet another disaster, unfortunately. The older marbled veil angelfish was incredibly aggressive and attacked the younger ones repeatedly. Even though they had told us that angelfish were not aggressive in the store, a few Google searches proved otherwise. Sadly, it just goes to show you that an enormous amount of fish store employees, and pet store workers in general, do not have proper knowledge and training.
Honestly, this species is just gorgeous. But, make sure to add several of the same size angelfish to the tank at the same time. Or, you will be looking at some pretty nasty fish fights for the next while. This fish species can be easy to maintain, just make sure to research them before investing in this species.
